With reference to my Despatch No. 145 of the

14th of April, I have the honour to transmit for your inform- -ation, the enclosed copy of correspondence concerning the bogus shipment of 132 cases of spurious opium from Macao to

Mexico.

There is no doubt in the mind of the Superintend- -ent of Imports and Exports that an equivalent weight of good opium has been smuggled from Macao into China.
